He was born in 20th November 1993 to a Serbian mother and a Bosnian father who escaped from the Yugoslavian war and settled to Belfort, a city in eastern France close to Switzerland border. He began playing football in youth teams of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, one of the best football teams of the region. Improving his skills in youth teams of Sochaux, in March 2009 he played his first match under Bosnia U17 jersey. He then represented his country in 12 more matches at this level. In 10/11 season he was selected to play for Sochaux B. After improving his football for 2 years in September of 2012 he picked up a knee injury that costed him 6 months away from football. In the second half of the season he picked up his jersey from where he left and completed a successful season. Following season he made it to the main squad played his first Ligue 1 match against AC Ajaccio. He was on the pitch for 29 games in his first season in Ligue 1 with a good overall performance. This drew attention from the west side of the country and that summer he moved to Rennes with a transfer fee of 1M €. With this transfer Rennes had added a talented midfielder who represented his country in U17, U19, and U21 categories for 27 matches as a captain. Despite making 2 assists in his first match with his new team, he later could not perform above average. Later in an interview he stated that his lower than expected first season performance was caused by communication problem with the Rennes coach back then, Philippe Montanier. Also he gave the reason that his coach made him play in various different positions other than his original role. As Montainer wanted him to be loaned out, the club send him on loan to Serie A, Torino FC. After an unlucky half season he later loaned to AC Perugia Calcio, Serie B. He became the central midfielder of Perugia in the second half of the season and he scored 3 goals for the Italian side. At the end of the season he came back to Roazhon Park. Montainer left Rennes in January which had been a game changer for him. From that time on, he began to be more involved in the team and he played in 25 matches in 16/17 season. Club appointing Christian Gourcuff at the and of that season was another important milestone for his career in Rennes. Prcic played in 3 matches for full 90 minutes in current season. He made an assist.
Prcic, who had wore the Bosnian jersey for 27 times in U17, U19, U21 levels also played 6 matches for the main Bosnia squad since 2014.
Strengths (Ball control, Concentration, Long balls)
Prcic defines himself as a “box-to-box midfielder”. Statistics and the football he plays confirms his definition. In addition to that he states that he is more into playing the attacking side of the game and he is comfortable with ball at his feet. Gourcuff, his current coach at Rennes, said “ he is a nice guy. He loves the game, he is talented and professional player. It is easy to work with him. I think he will succeed more if he stays here with u s.” for him. Statistics verify the statements made about him. His first outstanding feature is his technical capacity, ball control. He has been playing as an inner midfielder for 4-4-1-1 for 2 years in Rennes and he is hardly losing any ball in the midfield. In 28 matches he has been on the field since 2016, he has only been dispossessed for 5 times. This number only is an indicator of him being a midfielder with high technical capability and concentration. Again, he has no single error which lead to a goal. This is again a clear indicator of how concentrated he is in the match. His well-timed tackles have huge importance for the Rennes defence. Aside from his ball control capabilities, his interceptions, passes/crosses/shots blocked by him give his team the momentum. His current tackling and interception statistics are 2.7 and 3.0 per match respectively and this is close to high level of midfield performance when Ligue 1 is considered. In adition to these, he passed the ball with 83% accuracy in 110 passes he completed and 78% of these are in the attacking direction. Meaning that, apart from his defending qualities he is a technically well-equipped midfielder who can and want to play vertically. Adding his 4.0 accurate long passes per match data to these, he can now be considered as a midfielder who is comfortable in ball distribution.
Weaknesses (Ground/Aerial duels, Key passes)
Apart from his favorable qualities there are still some points to be improved in Prcic’s game. He is successful at interceptions and blocking the ball but its very unlikely for you to see him executing a sliding tackle. Also with his average (181 cm) height, he is not contributing too much to his team in aerial duels. His aerial duels won per match is below 1.0. These two defensive qualities should be improved. To call him a complete box-to-box midfielder, apart from defensive qualities, percentage of accurate passes completed and accurate long balls per match, he should also be creating chances for his attackers. When we look at his key pass statistics we see that he needs to take more initiative i the attacking side of the game. He should improvehis 0.3 key passs per match statistics.
